What is the typical implementation time?

Depending on your schedule, the PNT Data connection can be installed and tested as quickly as one day. PNT Data makes implementation easier to set up than a standard trading partner connection.

When will I know that my claims have been received?

In minutes, you will receive a confirmation showing that your claim file has been delivered. No more clearinghouse delays and missing claim files!

The number of payer connections is constantly increasing. Click on the following link to check the current list: Payers currently linked to PNT Data.

Does PNT Data provide transaction reports?

Yes. Every claim file you submit is checked, validated, financially balanced and logged by the PNT Data Healthcare Services Platform. You can access reports at any time with our Claim Management Center. Claim confirmation receipts can also be delivered via email.

Do I need to install an interface to my system?

No. The PNT Data Doodad® utility will automatically transmit and receive responses. (Standard EDI links and web functions are also available for larger providers, if needed.)

If there is an error, will my entire file be rejected?

No. This is one of the key functions provided by the PNT Data Healthcare Services Platform – if an error is found in a claim, it is automatically pulled from your original claim file and returned to you. This claim splitting mechanism allows the “good” claims to be rebalanced for financial integrity, and continue on for immediate delivery to the payer. This eliminates unnecessary reimbursement delays.

Can we use S/FTP, PGP or other tools to send claim files?

Yes. In addition to the secure Doodad® utility, PNT Data also supports S/FTP, PGP encrypted files, HTTPS, and third-party tools. PNT Data will work with you on your choice of protocol.

Our system creates NSF / HCFA / UB-92 claims – can I use PNT Data?

The PNT Data system is designed to process claims that have been batched in the ANSI 837 format. However, we have contracted with third party vendors in order to accommodate clients who utilize legacy claim formats. Please select either “Manual Claim Entry (I don’t have billing software)” or “Claim Submission HCFA 1500” during the registration process to be directed accordingly.

Can I continue to use my existing clearinghouse?

Yes. The PNT Data Healthcare Services Platform is not exclusive – you can continue to use your existing connections to clearinghouses, Medicare and Medicaid.

Can PNT Data handle large volumes of claims?

Yes. There are no limitations on claim volume or file size; the PNT Data Healthcare Services Platform is designed to provide very high performance with high availability, 24 x 7. The only limitations would be those of the Health Plans when applicable.

Do I need to dedicate a PC or server to run the PNT Data connection?

What can I use if I cannot create an ANSI X12N 837 file?

  • To work directly with PNT Data for claims submission, your billing system must be able to create a HIPAA mandated claim file in the ANSI X12N 837 format. There are many vendors who accept manual claim entry or HCFA 1500; many of our clients work with our business partner, Ability Network to manage manual claim entry.
  • If you are already an Ability client, please contact them directly for additional information and questions
